Postpartum Doula

Personally, my most important life experiences have been my two natural births. As a natural childbirth educator, I have taught other women how to make the transition to parenthood a time of wonder and fulfillment. Let me help you do the same as you enter into the next phase - being home with your baby.
What is a Postpartum Doula? My name is Kathleen Kennedy, and I am a professional Postpartum Doula. “Doula” is a Greek word meaning “woman’s servant.”
I am a helper, professionally trained to provide postpartum assistance at home after the birth of your new baby. In my work, I use evidence-based information as I give emotional, physical and educational support to the family. Women nurturing other women during and after pregnancy is a time-honored tradition in many cultures, including our own. Who better to support a woman through this process than women who have had babies themselves, and who can lend their wisdom, life-experience and practical assistance to new parents transitioning to the roles of “Mom” and “Dad?”
I am a trained Postpartum Doula. Let me give you hands-on support and make this wonderful time in your life easier, calmer and less stressful by helping with some of these practical concerns:
- Household organization
- Breastfeeding education
- Older sibling adjustment
- Self-care & infant care
- Sleep deprivation
- Recovery from pregnancy and birth
