Using Your Breathing

Breathing is more than oxygen in and carbon dioxide out.
The way we breathe can be a tool to
improve the use of our brain, handle tension, and even strengthen our core
muscles. It can utilize our mind-movement- body link to improve how we do
things.
For example, if you ever feel uptight, as if you were
bracing yourself, you can help yourself “let go”, not only physically but
mentally as well. The breath to use is a “melting sigh.” Just make a sigh out loud as you exhale and
let your body do a melting action, like the witch in the Wizard of Oz.
Coordination
Pattern™ and Dynamics Training classes use this breath and others to help
people improve how they function, prevent injury and pain, rejuvenate,
exercise, improve creativity and more. For instance,
in Salt of the Earth, a Himalayan salt cave at Twin Ponds Integrated Health
Center, we teach “4 Breaths 4 Life.”
This mini-workshop includes: 1) Whistle Breath – to strengthen your core
muscles and focus, 2) Ha Ha Breath – to
loosen stiff joints and release emotional stress, 3) Awe Breath – to calm and
be positioned, 4) Melting Sigh – to let go, and sink into the intuitive. Thus,
while getting the Hallo (salt) Therapy benefits of the salt cave, participants
are learning breathing skills to improve both their physical and mental well-being.
